Bruce shot with us for a time. He always enjoyed it but health issues caused him to drop out. He shot as ‘Virginian’. Remembering Bruce, I’ll tell a cowboy story on him.

At his first shoot, I gave him my standard new shooter lecture. Stay safe, listen to the RO, there isn’t a target out there you can’t hit, you aren’t going to win anything today so have fun and don’t lose your mind when the beep goes off.

Being a Norfolk cop as long as he was, he was like me. Thousands of rounds down range in training over his career. Double action duty weapons.

Bruce came to the line for the first time. I had the clock. I reminded him of what I’d told him and asked if he was ready. He said he was and said his line. I started him and he pulled one of his shiny new revolvers. He’s pulling the trigger so hard he’s starting to tremble. I leaned over his shoulder and said, “Bruce, you have to cock it.”

The old time training took over.

Godspeed, Bruce Corbin. Rest in peace my friend.
Honorary Life Member of the Pungo Posse. Badge #1. An honor bestowed by the posse. Couldn’t be more proud or humbled.

All I did was name it ‘n get it started. The posse made it great. A debt I can never repay. Thank you, mi amigos.
