Fellers, jist to let ya know, there ain't a thing in the world wrong with my 1875 Hartford Armory Remingtons. I do wish that I had bought a pair of 1890s when I got the 75s so that I would have some of each.
10 Sleep, Howdy!
No offense meant - obviously you got some of the good ones. I never had heard about H.A. offering any '90s. I was saving my pennies for one because I had seen some details about them, when a pard told me a horror story about his pair and since then, I've heard both ways. About 50% of the ones I've heard about are all they were meant to be - the rest seemed to be VERY expensive problems. Then the company quit making them - which is a darn shame, because of the people involved, who used to visit "here" from time to time. The whole thing is truly a shame, 'cause the example I saw was as close to perfection in a handgun as I've ever seen! Absolutely
NO machining marks I could find - inside or out! And the idea of a '75 Remington that was fully safe to fire HOT-HOT-HOT 44 mag or 45 Colt hunting ammo is really appealing!
Anyway, 'Sleep, I envy yours!
Don, the one I saw would be a hard act to follow, even by USFA! Even IF they do make one as fine as I
think they will, I doubt the USFA will be able to withstand the chamber pressures that the H.A. versions were built to take.
