Lyman 457192
Is the same as the Ideal 456192

• 3 Grease Grooves - No Crip Groove
• Length - 0.905
• Base Diameter - 0.459
• Weight - 351 (WW + 2% Sn)

Notice the width of the driving and grease groove bands!
This bullet needs to be crimped on the driving band.  From a 100% safety factor, magazine loading this bullet with smokeless powder may allow the crimped bullet to recede back into the case   

Lyman 457122
Is called the 'Gould Bullet, used for hunting.  The hollow point on this bullet has been widened

• Length - 0.900
• Base Diameter - 0.458
• Weight - 339 (1:30)

Lee 457- 340F

• 2 Grease Grooves - 1 Crip Groove
• Length - 0.851
• Base Diameter - 0.461
• Weight - 347 (1:20)

How was the hollow point on the Gould widened?

Slim, there a couple of ways to do it:

• With a mill end or drill bit using a drill press
• With a lathe cutter: cut a case-put the bullet in the case and the case is put in the chuck

   Johnboy,  I have ordered a mold from Hoch Custom Molds that will come next month.  they are spendy but since i got one several years ago for my 40-82, I know that they are worth it.  It is a copy of the old original 45-75 bullet and is "nose pour".  If and when I can figure out how to post pictures on this sight and when I get the mold, I will sure be happy to send a photo of it.  I also have the Lyman 457122 and made a little thingy that allows me to cast without the hollow point when I want to.  I can get around 348-350 grains using that little stem.  Works pretty good but is sort of a pain to cast.  Hope this helps.

I bought the Buffalo Arms 350 gr 0.459 dimeter bolit that was designed especially for the 45-75. Three big grease grooves, flat base and a crimp groove that puts the OAL at 2.25 inches. (it casts .459 with 20:1 alloy). The price isn't cheap but it is a steel die trhat should outlast aluminum. Oh, and sprue is on the base. I have cast it but not shot it yet.
