Uberti Schofield Hideout Point of Aim?
« on: October 17, 2007, 05:26:11 PM »
Are y'all finding  your Schofield's to shoot to point of aim? Windage is what I am worried about. Seems like it would take a lot to regulate unlike the Smiths with their adjustable rear sight.

Of course they're going to be different.

These were the prototypes that would lead to the adjustable rear sights of the future...

It won't take much beyond ammunition and time - and consistency - to figure out your Schofield, though.

Try several different types of ammunition and bullet weight - you'll notice that your revolver will group tighter and to your point of aim with practice.

Once you've found something that works well for you - stick with it.

Fixed-sight revolvers can be adjusted by judicious filing.

Good Luck.

I have 3 of the NA Schofield hideout models in 45 Colt.  All three shoot reasonably close to point of aim that I can use a center hold on a SASS target and get a hit close to center.  I've shot 230 to 255 gr bullets all with fine results. :)

If I was shooting bullseye with them I would have to use a little Kentucky wind age.

I am shooting 200 Gr bullets with Trailboss powder, in Starline 45 schofield cases and they hit what I point them at.  ;D
