A few of us are looking for folks that have an interest in shooting BPCR in the Los Angeles area.
We might be able to utilize the Desert Marksmen range in Angeles National forest near Palmdale CA, there is a 1000 Yd. range there.
Other ranges will be considered also. There may be a club already in the area and that is great , we'd like to know about it.

I'm really glad your surgery went well . I'll keep you in my prayers as you heal.

Well we have at least 600 Yd's at Desert marksmen's Rifle range and we go up top we have 1000 as you know. I have my RB sited in to at least 500 yds right now( day after I picked the gun up from your place.) 500 yds was a gift. We sighted in at 100 then went to 200 yds. My pard said up that sight about 30 clicks....went over the 200 berm, the 300 berm, the 400, berm and hit target high on the 500 berm but to the right of the target. We thought that was a bit to high so i dropped her back to half (15 clicks) and then down 2 moe clicks to 200 yd......but I kept the 500 yd marking in my mind and wrote it down. so now i have 1, 2, 3 and 500 yds marked just need the 400 and the 6, 7, 8, 9, and 1000.
We burned 50 Cartridges that day, My pard shot 5 or 6 and I shot the rest. funny thing is I never got a bruise on my shoulder. Sore the next day but no bruise. Yee Haw for the shotgun type Butt plate in this RB!.

I'm jumping a little late here but where is Piru and Holser Canyon. I have some lever guns and a Sharps
in 45-90 which I used to have a sight setting out to 600 yds. I have not used the rifle in years and
would like to give it a try again.

Howdy, y'all.

Wes Thompson's public range in Holser Canyon at Piru has good (and fairly level) steel plate targets at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, and 750 yards, and one large steel target at 1,000 yards (but at a considerable up angle).  The Deadwood Boys' cowboy long-range range, also in Holser Canyon, has steel targets from just over 100 to about 500 yards, and most of them have a fair amount of up-angle.  All of 'em - public and private -  are a hoot to shoot.

To get to Holser Canyon and all these wonderful ranges from greater Los Angeles, take Interstate 5 north to the 126 freeway.  Go west on the 126 to the town of Piru (consult a map), then turn north and drive toward Lake Piru.  Wes Thompson's has a large sign on the road where you turn off.

If you go to www.bpcr.net, there's a considerable listing of clubs and shoots in and about California.
The Longstreet Inn and Casino Shoot is next week at Almargosa Nv.
The Avenal shoot is coming soon.
They shoot monthly sillouetter and buffalos matches at Pala.
Quite a bit going on out there.
