Ol Pat married into the Music business. His wife is Red Foley's daughter. Debbie is the girl next door type, wasn't the type for the music business in the late 70s or early 80s.

My ex wife's stepfather was an evangelical minister.  He used ta talk about working with Pat.  Said he was a great guy and very religious.  He helped fund there revivals and missionary work.  I don't know if they're still in touch.

Howzabout some Western Swang?  One of the major benefits of livin' in Nashville is all the great venues to listen to music played by some of the finest musicians in the world.  Some of the stages are big, like the Ryman (my no. 1 favorite) but there are plenty of smaller joints like Robert's Western World where you'll hear amazing stuff.

Another favorite is The Station Inn, the heart of the bluegrass world. But there's other music there, too.  This Monday, in celebration of makin' it through another year, I'm headed there to hear one 'a the best western swing combos there is, the Time Jumpers.  They play at the Station almost every Monday, and many many great C & W performers drop in.  It kinda blows my mind that I can drive a few miles on any Monday night and hear bands like this:

Bob usually had 2 fiddles in the band and sometimes he would play also, so they would have 3. That is a good band, all fine musicians. That place looks small on the inside.

TLD, I had that Alabama album. I taped it and ran through the equalizer i had with my stero outfit at that time. My '68 Mustang had four speakers and a 200 watt equalizer in it. Great sound for a cheap setup. Playing that tape on it, you wouldn't believe the base line under that song. used to turn it up some, did the same with "Roll On" on that album. The semi at the beginning sounded like there was a real one next to me ::) ;D

They're all studio musicians.  The steel player is the late John Hughey, who did amazing work with Conway Twitty for almost 20 years. He also toured with Vince Gill for several years, and played on a Dickey Betts album, etc. 

The Station Inn is pretty small.  That's one of the great things about it--you can really hear all the instruments.  And you never know who'll show up to sit in with the band.  Some pretty big names.
They also serve some pretty tasty bb-que.  :)

Here's a fiddle player for ya.



Now keep in mind that Paganini is the first muscian rumored to have sold his soul ta the devil cause he did things with that fiddle that seemed impossible.  If ya listen through the whole thing there's times where he makes it sound like a whole orchestra.  He was like a rock star in his day.  The guy in this video must of practiced long an hard ta get it down.
