Finishing inside of holsters
« on: April 16, 2007, 04:12:39 PM »
How do you guys finish the inside of your holsters?  I have the Wild Rose Video (Highly recommend!) and he uses Gum Trag and bag Cote...is that what most of you do?

I have not particularly finished them in the past but think I may want to start....

What is method you use?

Thanks in advance!

Rubbing down with Tragacanth is nice, especially of the leather back is rough. It packs the fibers down tight and smooth.

Use it on the edges as well.

After dying, and Trag, I use Acrylic sealer to keep the dye in and the water out. Oils will pass thry Acrylic sealer, so if you use neatsfoot or whatever your favorite is it will pass right thru it.

I used to use beeswax on the interior, but have been using Ballistol lately (both inside and out) with really good results. It makes the gun slide in and out better than anything else I have tried.
