I told my my pard Rooster Cogburn I wanted some thing a `bit different` for my opentops,   sooooo........



We went for a Morgan style in Ox Blood and he made me one beaut of a rig. I also wanted a pair of shotgun slides (Only one showing in the piccie) as I wanted the belt plain.

Ya`ll gotta admit it sure is one handsome looking rig, I think Rooster really excelled hisownself too,

Yup ya could say I`m over the moon!!

Hey Paladin,

Looking over your web site, I noticed the brass framed '58 Remington and Spiller pistols.  How long have you been shooting them and with what kind of loads?  Just curious about their durability.  I have some Cabela's points to use and might use them on a brass '58 Remington because I don't have one.

The Spiller I have had for `bout 7 yrs I use (20gns) real BP NO SUBS.  In the Remmie.. had that just over 5 yrs, I use (24gns) again real BP I found that even Pyrodex is a bit too sharp on the recoil side. Wonderlube on the spindles and always a good waxed wad over the powder.There is absolutely No Sign of stretching and I don't think they will!! However if you stoke em to the gunnel's with Pyrodex I would imagine you would really be asking for trouble.!!

Nice rig.  I came on the leather board for suggestions for a simple, elegant rig for my opentops and conversions and found what I'm looking for on the first post!  That's almost exactly what I'm looking for.

OK, I made a pattern based on the pistol found on page 101 in Packing Iron. I'm making one to see how the pattern works out. I'll post a pic when it's finished. If I like it, I'll make a pair of them. Many thanks for the inspiration, pard.
