Spur Leathers...

Way back in 2004 - I mentioned 'spur leathers' in one of my 'Notes' on the 'Historical Society Forum' titled 'Spurs'.

This is what a good pair looks like - from Chuck Burrows at Wild Rose Trading Co - wrtc@wrtcleather.com

The conchos are pre-1900 Mexican silver pesos - and they're far nicer in actuality that the links show...

They're now attached to my late-1880's original  Buermann 'Horse Head' spurs and look great.

St. George -

Bob, those are fine looking.  I very much am impressed with the quality of Mr. Burrow's work.  He's one of the few who make expensive leather that I  feel are actually WORTH the price.  I have a nice set of spur straps with a beautiful Sterling Silver engraved concho that a friend made.  They are similar in shape to yours, but one main piece and the buckle small section.  The bad part is that they adorn my rather cheap inexpensive not-so-good spurs.  If I ever win the Lottery, I'll be talking to the Lindholm Brothers, or perhaps an authentic old set.

Shoot, MOST of the time, I wear my Civil War "issue" plain Jane ones that I kept when I mustered out of the 4th Cavalry.  (Which in REAL life were earned by me/awarded to me while assigned to Border Duty with the 11th Armored Cavalry in Fulda.  They [and straps] came from Fall Creek Suttlery.

In the Cavalry - the boots to own were made by Dehner's, and the Cav guys could have spur rests attached at the heel.

It honked off the DATs, since pure 'Armor' guys couldn't do that, but Cav could...;-D

The spurs I won during my time in the Cav are a pair of Federal 'Eagle' Civil War Officer's spurs, a silver 'dress' pair - very stylized - for use with the Army Mess Uniform, and an 'issue' pair of Model 1911 spurs made by August Buermann.

'Those' particular spurs went everywhere...

Chuck's work is top-notch and well worth the wait.

The Bowie and beaded sheath he did for me is absolutely beautiful.

They're available - just go to his site and look for 'Old Time Band' spurs.

The ones shown are $175, without the silver rowel disc, the jinglebobs and the concho overlays.

Those are extra...
