ARe the Cimerron model P's as strong as the real Colts? Could you say,,shoot reg factory ammo in a Cimerron Model P without any problems? Not that I would for cowboy shootin' ,,but could it double as a home defence weapon?
Thank you.

Of course you can shoot factory ammunition in them - there's no restriction to a 'cowboy load', and they're designed for current SAAMI specification ammunition.
The factory smokeless .45 Colt or .45 Schofield works quite well, in fact.

Cimarron Model Ps are just as strong as a Colt or USFA, but not as strong as a Ruger Blackhawk or old Vaquero. Any sane factory ammo or careful handload that is meant for a SAA is fine in the Cimarron Model P. No +P .45 Colt Ruger loads EVER....standard or cowboy action shooting level only. Unless someone came at me with a full auto Thompson with a C drum, I would feel confident using it for self/home defense. .45 Colt will stop a bad guy just the same today as it would 130 years ago.
