The initials on the barrel are "AH" inside a square....Thanaks

Don't believe that is an importers mark.  It is a proof mark.  It is a code telling what year the gun was made.  There was a thread a while back about that with a link showing what those marks meant and for the life of me I can't remember what the link is so you can look at it.

All of my Italian made guns have the same mark, just with different letters in it.

It may be a date code.

  Thank-you for the info......Was an importer always used for these rifles in 1981...??  There is no importer on my barrel....

In 1981, I recall Navy Arms & Allen Arms were importers.... I had a Navy Arms and it was so marked.
I have seen Allen Arms marked guns.... Cimarron acquired and absorbed Allen Arms.

My current Henry is unmarked except with the Henry Patent date and [BH] ? purchased in 1999.

Hawes of Los Angeles was importing all types of Italian and German guns in 1981,

Most were marked, but not all.
