rogers&spencer question
« on: October 16, 2006, 11:29:08 PM »
Can anyone  tell me if the original Rogers & Spencer percussion revolvers have "gain twist" rifiling like the original Remingtons.
Also, I have seen a Rogers & spencer on one of the gun auctions stating it is  cal..41, is this a misprint , or did they make a cal..41?.

Rogers and Spencers were .44's.

Their barrels were rifled using the old Pettingill machinery, since they'd originally manufactured that revolver and there was a degree of parts commonality - notably the barrel and loading lever.

There's  no mention of 'gain-twist' rifling that I've found.
