New here and new to CAS my first post. I bought a used EMF Uberti 1866 a couple of months ago and it has been fine until today. I was going to go out and practice and I can't get it to feed cartridges. Its the same catridges i have been shooting all along. Same OAL and same bullets. Is the carrier supposed to start up before the bolt is all the way back? The bolt catches on the carrier before it is all the way back and I didn't know if that was normal for a 66. The cartridge is setting in the carrier crooked and if you push the one in front of it back in the magazine it will straighten out and then feed right. The guy I bought it from said it had a short stroke kit  in it and had an action job.Thanks

Sounds like a lever spring broke I had that same problem with a 73 but it's the same action basically....#92/93

From your description, it sounds like there is an issue with the timing. 
Yes, the Carrier Block should start up before the Breach Block (bolt) is all the way back.  The carrier block should NOT hit the bolt on the way up.  Also to feed correctly, there has to be a small bevel cut into the front side of the back wall of the mortice the carrier rides in.  If you'll visit Pioneer Gunworks site, there is an excellent set of pictures showing the fix for this problem.
You don't mention whose SS kit is in the gun, but that is important information to resolve the timing issue as well as the caliber.

I got it fixed. The gunsmith said it was just out of time. He said whoever put the short stroke kit in didn't adjust the timing correctly and it just worked its way out of time.
