Thanks, lR. Had my big test today, the regular driver wasn't able to come in this afternoon so I had a sub driver that didn't know the route. So I had to ride herd and give the sub directions, and wouldn't you know it, there was an uprising on the reservation and I had to be in both ends of the bus simultainiously. I got it settled and managed to get the kids home without us getting lost. I'm not that familiar with most of Massillon, but luckily had absorbed enough land marks to get us through the route despite the route sheet being not updated to show the proper directions for the home portion............Buck

Back during WWII my dad was a farmer and judged to be more valuable here in the states.Like a lot of folks, wanted to do his bit, so he became an Army Air Force Observer. I still have his arm band and display it proudly. I'm not going to get on a soap box, but I wonder where this country (the best there is despite her faults) would be if we put our diferences behind us and all pulled togeather.

Forty Rod, When I was in grade school(started school in '45) we still had a set of plastic? airplanes in each room.  Most of them about 3" long. The kids before us had regular identification sessions with the little models. I really liked the Stukas.

I was Juliet Charlie Juliet for authentication purposes and Nozzle Rag(my favorite call sign) 2 for radio call ( in the 60s).

I was two years behind you, Noz, and we still had solid black rubber/plastic airplanes in the classroom.

Here's one for you old timers: who remembers the old Kix boxes with tanks and planes and ships and stuff printed on he inside.  You cut and folded them, and colored them, and had entire armies.

I saw a full set about fifteen years ago in very good shape for $2,800 asking price.  14 different boxes.

If I might be permitted to revisit a couple of earlier subjects; I remember seeing some photos in Popular Science, or something similar, of gooney birds that had been converted to tri motors. The first time I ever flew was in a military verson of a DC9. Do all military passenger planes have the seat facing rearwards?

I don't know about recent years into the 80's they still were. cept' for the smaller planes which lined the wall.  Some didn't have seats cept' for the crew. sit on a skid of cargo and hold the nets  The good ole days
