I doubt Olin Corporation would be willing to part with it. They got a pretty good gig going on.

I thought it was Fabrique Nationale, parent company of Browning also.

Olin still owns the "Winchester" name.  Olin has licensed FN and Browning to make (import) guns with the Winchester name.  FN is actually making new Model 70 bolt guns in South Carolina.

Olin has also licensed the Japanese Co. of "Miroku" to make "Winchester" rifle and carbines.
"Henry" is just a name that Olin no longer has control over.
It does not make the name "Henry" in this context correct or wrong.
Misused , by the current owner of the name, perhaps?

No more misused than the names of C Sharps Arms or Winchester.

This business of trade names can get pretty complicated. Go back to E. Remington & Sons. In 1888 they were going belly-up. Marcellus Hartley, one of the principles in Hartley & Graham, determined to buy out their assets and the rights to use the Remington name. He combined with Oliver Winchester to buy the assets, starting "Remington Arms Co." Was this the original Remington? Was "Colt's" Colt's after Sam died? Is the current incarnation anything close to the original company?

There are so many similar examples that it's impossible to name them all, even in the small arms business. You can't tell the players without a corporate scorecard! What really matters is how the current company handles the design, marketing, production and quality control.

Hope you are all having a Merry Christmas, and looking forward to a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

The present HRA company bought the name "Henry Repeating Arms", as it was available.

Wouldn't be more accurate to say HRA formed the Henry Repeating Arms Company?  Was there ever a Henry Repeating Arms Compnay, or even Henry Rifle Company, before Michael Imperato formed it in 1993?  The Henry repeating rifle, or Henry rifle of 1860,  was manufactured by the New Haven Arms Company.  The NHAC was reorganized as the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1866.

Frisco,

I stand corrected.  I "thought" I remembered (dangerous for me) the original name was HRA from an article I read some time back.  I just went and searched Winchester history, and you are, indeed, correct.

At any rate, I applaud HRA for building this rifle here in the US.  The initial comments from reputable people have been positive, and I do intend to own one when I can gather the necessary funds.

Remembering without fact checking is a dangerous endeavor for me too.  The reports are good and I like Henries; but, as I already have a Henry in .44-40 I will have to wait until they produce a model in a different caliber before it can go on my wish list.

Perhaps in an effort to more closely duplicate the original chambering, Imperato, et al, could maybe produce it in 45 ACP or 45 Cowboy Special?  Should give about hte same number in the magazine tube as in the original.
