Afternoon all.
Currently 105, expected to hit 110. They're saying we might get a little rain later this evening.
The big fire over the hill got bigger. When I went to bed last night it was 6100 acres. When I got up it was 20,000. As of the press conference half an hour ago, it's at 32,000. The city of Redding has had all of it's Western outskirts evacuated, and the edge of town itself has become a fire line to hopefully keep the city from burning.
The fire burned a wireless comm site overnight, so three FM broadcast transmitters, three internet provider towers and one cell tower are puddles of metal on the mountain top now. It also burned two high voltage power line towers. Apparently an entire boating marina burned at the lake, too.
Up here we're not in any danger from fire, but we have our own associated problems. The highway has been closed all week, and there's no projects open date. The three gas stations in town are out of regular and low on everything else. The grocery stores are low on everything, too. We have back roads and such to get things in, but those are all either 4x4 only, or restricted to vehicles under 35 feet.
So, things are getting a little uncomfortable around here, but me and mine are doing fine.
Good luck, Roo.
