Larry Duane Norman, age 80, passed away at Medicalodges of Iola, Kansas on December 3, 2025.  He was born in Eureka, Kansas on May 9, 1945 to Wesley Irving and Mildred Esther (Misner) Norman.

Larry grew up on a farm outside of Piedmont, Kansas.  He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1963. After high school, Larry worked for his brother-in-law, W.F. Meisch Dirt Construction.   In 1964, he married Sharon Samuels, and to this union was born one daughter, Nicole.  Larry and Sharon later divorced.  He later married Diana Smith in 1981.  They had one son, Nathan.

Larry worked for Jarvis Auto Supply for 20 years and then left to co-own Sterling Service and Supply in Mt. Sterling, Illinois with Larry Adams.  He then returned to manage Jarvis Auto Supply in Eureka, Kansas until he received a full heart transplant on December 7, 1995.  He was one of the most successful and longest surviving recipients of a heart transplant.  He returned to Meisch Dirt Construction under Bud and Roland Meisch as long as he was able. 

In his adult life, Larry lived in Cedar Vale, Eureka, and Howard, Kansas.  He moved to Medicalodges in Iola, Kansas in August 2024.  He was a dedicated member of the Eureka Area Lions Club for many years.  He enjoyed reading and collecting Western books and memorabilia.  His favorite author was Louis L'Amour.  He also loved Actor John Wayne. 

Larry is survived by his daughter, Nicole Doty and four grandchildren, Billy, Xylan, Zelldin, and Selphie; son, Nathan Norman; stepsons, Phil and Patrick Buffington; stepdaughter, Debbie Gibson; grandchildren, Genevive, Jillian, Melody, Abigail, Kerissa, Jaden, Morgan, Trey, Matthew, and Nicholas; nieces, Pam Coons and Linda Askew; and nephews, Bud and Bruce Meisch.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Donna Lucille Meisch-Johnston and Mary Darlene Meisch. 

Cremation has taken placed under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349, and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Ladd Cemetery in Greenwood County, Kansas near Eureka.
