Lila Louise Wunderlich, age 91, passed away on July 22, 2025.  She was born February 19, 1934 in Higgins, Texas to Paul Roger and Opal (Brown) Meisch.

Lila was united in marriage to James William "Jim" Wunderlich on April 22, 1961.  They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2014.  Lila started Jim & Lila's Cafe in Piedmont, Kansas, and they owned and operated the Cafe for 62 years.  She enjoyed spending time gardening, canning, fishing, and cooking.  Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially having family over on Sundays for dinner.

Lila is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Roger) Baumgartel of Emporia, Kansas, Becky Courter of Piedmont, Kansas, and Annette Wells of Piedmont, Kansas; brothers, Frank (Lynda) Meisch of Chanute, Kansas and Roland (Leisa) Mesich of Howard, Kansas; grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin) Weber of Howard, Kansas, Melissa (Jeremy) Headley of El Dorado, Kansas, Staci (Sull) Troy of Americus, Kansas, Erin Reber of Emporia, Kansas, and Larami (Chris) Crum of Emporia, Kansas; great grandchildren, Faith, Tanner, Colton, Reagan, Storme, Jace, Kylee, Abbie, Gerek, Greyson, Gunner, Jake, Dakota, Carson, and Canon; and great-great-grandchildren, Maudie, Corbin, Josias, Autumn, Baker, Haydn, Aidan, and Adrian.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; her sons, Randy Wells and Lynn Wells; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kristy and Gary Chamberlain; brothers, Bud Meisch and W.F. Meisch; and sisters, Sally Barnaby and Dorothy Disney. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Piedmont Gymnasium in Piedmont, Kansas.  Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a private family graveside burial.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lila Wunderlich Grandchildren Scholarship, and donations may be left in care of Dunsford Funeral Home, 201 E. 5th Avenue, Augusta, Kansas 67010 which has been entrusted with arrangements.
