The AS Spencer center-fire block can be made to work in a original Spencer with modifications to its lenth and narowing of the toung to fit the original leaver. To add lenth metal can is added at the back of the block by either soldering a hardened plate of the desired thickness on to the back recoil face of the block and polishing to same shape and thickness as original block or bild up the same back recoil face with Tig weld and grind to proper lenth(a surface grinder is best for this job, finish the curved shaping with a dremal)The toung of the block stem also has to be narowed by filing to fit in the leaver groove.I would only use this modification as a last resort  for oners out side the US who can not obtain the BACO or S&S center-fire blocks,as the AS block is not of the quality of these blocks, however this will work and be the least expencive way to go if you can not make one
