Difference in sound of clicks on USFA's

OK, I am going to let my ignorance hang out so please don't everyone laugh too hard.

Question- Why do different USFA's have different cocking sounds. I have one that is very smooth and has four loud distinct clicks, one that is very smooth and has four quiet mufffled sounding clicks, and two that have medium sounding clicks when cocked.

Difference in metal hardness? I am sure difference in spring pressure will cause a different sound, but would it be so drastic. Just curious.

Stiff springs, loud clicks.  Soft springs, soft clicks.  Action jobs can also affect the sound.

What about an action job would make the clicks sound different other than spring pressure? I am wondering because the one I have that is so smooth and makes loud distinct clicks I purchased used and do not know who the original owner was. I think it may have had an action job done on it but I don't know for certain and I don't know if there is a way to know for sure.

There is a simple mantra.  No two guns cycle, feel or SOUND alike.  Doesn't matter if there years apart or consecutive.  Customers constantly ask those of us who work(d) on guns to make them identical.  Ain't gonna happen.

Trying to figure out "why" is just going to hurt your head.  There are just too many variables.  Since you don't know the history of the one you bought used ................. The only answer is .......... Just "because"

Guns make all kinds of sounds when you are sitting in your living room cocking it slooooowly and listening to the action.  Once you get to the range and put in your ear plugs and start shooting you won't know the difference.
