I only use true BP in my genuine Smith & Wesson revolvers. A charge of .7 cc is about a full case, add a 125-150 grain bullet & I'm set. Now...I do have a smokeless load that I use in several pocket guns which are a bit newer and certainly of lesser value than my S&Ws. For those revolvers I run 2.0 grains of W231 or 700X with a 125 grain bullet.

Yep, with everything but 777 fill the case and have a little compression when you seat the bullet.
For 777, fill the case enough you touch the bullet, and dont compress.

Why sure!   Use a full case of American Pioneer Powder - FFg - light to little or no compression

While we're showing off Merwin Hulberts, here's my 7-shot in .32 on the .38 frame.    Now I need a large frame in .44 Russian to go with it.





Meh, break tops, front sliders, same diff. 

I have a couple of Forehand & Wadsworth break tops.  Around here they tend to go for cheap because they are mostly 12(6) class (prohibited) handguns.  You have had to be grandfathered in to own one.  Prior 15-Feb-96 iffen I recall correct like.  At least anything prior 1946 can be classed 12(7) relic and passed on to an immediate blood relative.  You folks don't want to know what happens to the rest of them upon a 12(6) holder's demise if a new home can't be found for said guns in a "reasonable" amount of time.  Wonder how much trouble it would be to buy some of these up for export to the U.S.?

I must have bigger brass  I also squeeze a thin wad between powder & bullet to keep lube from migrating into the powder.

I'm considering a big-lube mold to cast my own bullets. I think the crimp groove on that bullet leaves a lot of the lead outside the case. Could make life easier.

Found two little breaktops at a pawn shop near me, one H&R and one Iver Johnson. Finsh was good on the HR and, except for wear on the barrel, excellent on the Iver. Both were .38 SW and the Iver was tight as new, excellent lockup. Price 450.00 each, ouch.

Around here(KCMo) realy nice H & Rs or Iver Johnson in outstanding shape go for about $ 125.

This is a game I can finally play...

Would like to get a nice S&W 4th Model some time -- or maybe a new NAA 22 Mag Top-Break (they start shipping this week, but I'm told all 500 were sold out) -- then again, I saw a nice Webley in 38 S&W today too...

That sure looks like a S & W # 1 1/2 center-fire to me.  The rim-fire are tip-ups not break-tops.  $ 350.00 is not too high for one in that nice of shape.  If it all works and with a good bore; go for it.

I just re-examined your photo of the pistol.  I checked The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, (Supica & Nahas) this morning.  If that is a photo of the pistol that is for sale, $ 350 is a good buy;  If it is in the origial box you can probably just about double the price.

Sorry but the pic I included was from the web site "the armchair gunshow" and was only to show a pistol that is exactly like the one I was looking at. I thought $350 was a good price and used that site to see what prices are like for those old pocket pistols. The one I'm looking at is in really good condition like the one in the picture but it doesn't have the original box. I hope you are right about this being a centerfire. I would love to be able to shoot it. I'm going out to check it out again and maybe buy it today. Thanks for everyones input. It is greatly appreciated.
