Howdy! Just got a new carbine in .45Colt/stainless. Took it out today for it's first shoot. It's a little stiff, but shoots very accurate. It has no FTF, or stove pipes, with store bought ammo, or my reloads. Tried 3 different brands of brass, Winchester, Remington, and Starline.

Here is the problem, getting the case out of the chamber! If you firmly push the lever forward, the shell will eject a short distance to the right side of the receiver, and the last round(10) will fall in the receiver, on top of the carrier, and not get ejected at all.

I'm not a gunsmith, but I can't see a problem with the ejector, or the extractor. I have a 1894 Winchester top eject, that doesn't have this problem. Is this common for this model, mind you, for the most part, it extracts, ejects the bass, just not very far. I guess you could say something is a little weak.

It is a new gun, and please don't tell me I have to send it in for repair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just returned a Cimerron model "P" in nickel for defective plating, and have to send a Browning Buckmark, I bought for the wife, that jams in for warranty repair! If this keeps up, I'm going to stop buying new guns

Again, I'm not a gunsmith, and I will not mess with a new gun, out of the box, and it is becoming to much of a hassle, and expense, to send it back to the out of state dealers from where they have been purchased.

I'm certainly no gunsmith but have some familiarity with the 1892 as I own two Winchester/Miroku 1892 rifles and two EMF Hartford 1892 rifles. Rossi uses very heavy ejector springs in their rifles to make up for the lack of meticulous fitting so the most common complaint is that they throw empties into the next county. I would guess your problem is either a defective ejector spring or the ejector itself is defective or needs some smoothing so it doesn't hangup in the bolt. The cartridge carrier popping up with the next round is helping kick the empties out but with #10 there's no cartridge coming up to help eject. There are two really good '92 gunsmiths and a call to either will probably get you an answer to your problem. Call Steve Young first as he's the warranty guy for EMF and a great guy to deal with - http://www.stevesgunz.com/ - his phone# is down on the page a bit. Mike at M&M  in Virginia is also a really good resource but I don't have his phone# right now and he doesn't have a website as far as I know. Just call Steve.

I had a similar problem with an 1892 carbine in .357.

The casing would either not come out or would only go a few inches. I also found I needed to make sure I got a good full throw on the lever.

I mentioned it to the gunsmith when I took it in for work. After he worked the action and polished everything up it now works fine.

He though the spring might be a bit weak, but cleaning the works solved it.

I am very happy with it now, shoots cosistently and very accurate.
