Does anyone know if I can substitute the US checkered faux ivory (not the tru-ivory) grips for the burlwood grips from the factory? I saw the burlwood ones in person and I'm just not a fan.  thanks JB

Gary Granger would be the best one to ask about this.  I know that Tru Ivory is the brand USFA uses.  I think if you want something different you will have to buy the gun as is and do an aftermarket swap.  This will be a less expensive way to do it anyways.

John,
Personally, I would want to see those white, checkered US grips in person before buying.  In the pictures I have seen they look more like white plastic than an imitation ivory.

Good point, thats the impression I got when I saw the "burlwood" grips. more like brown plastic with black specks in it. I'm not running down the guns at all, they are awsome, just want to get some nice grips with out breaking the bank, the pair is gonna set me back enough.  JB

I'm going the aftermarket route others have mentioned here. I'm just going to get the USFA Rodeo II's straight from Long Hunter and then buy my own set of nice imitation ivory grips and install them myself. It's a far cheaper option than having USFA do the switch for you.

John: I hated my Rodeo II grips. Had Tru-Ivory grips fitted by Bar S grips for 175.00. They are absolutly beautiful and look great with the satin nickel. I now love the look of the gun. USFA wanted 250.00 for the same thing. Buffalo Bruce

Tru Ivory brand grips are THE best second only to real ivory IMHO.

I personally would rather have the Tru-Ivory over the Standard grips as well.
