Howdy!

Can anyone on here tell me how the front sight is held in on a Uberti Schofield? Had one offered to me ant it is filed shorter than I would like :(

Thanks in advance!

I can only speak for real Schofields - and those front sights are pinned in place.

Sounds like this one was filed to suit a particular load - you may want to find out what that might be, to see if it prints where you aim - and leave it be.

Otherwise - installing a front sight's pretty easy, as it has that nice rib to work with, and some guys will install a period dime in place as a replacement.

Good Luck.

No doubt about it - strong light and good eyes help...

I can recommend a 'very' good light, for when you're looking for hair-thin lines, and differentiations in bluing.

'Surefire' flashlights - the type we're issued and a lot of cops use - work from short-lived batteries, but illuminate 'everything'.

Picking one up is a good idea for future use - and Christmas 'is' coming...

Uberti puts in the pin and then grinds and polishes the pin down when the gun is being finished.  After gun is blued, it's hard to see and easy for the punch to slip off of when you try to hammer it out.
