We've got a radio station in the MetroPlex called Lone Star.  They play alot of music from Texas artists like SRV, ZZ Top, Willie, Waylon, David Alan Coe, Guy Clark, and Billy Joe Shaver. They also play Skynard.

I ain't no LEO either, been known to Cowboy some, but I shock people with my taste in fiddle and piano music...Rack full from Across the Pond to Detroit City to Austin and many others along the way.  You mentioned Billy Joe Shaver watched a Outlaw show on one of the Country stations featured him and Merle, David Allen Coe and some  other guy from OKalhoma.  Billy Joe getting up there in age and to be quite Honest, I'm surprized alcohol ain't killed him

Willie was a bass player for Ray Price and living in Nashville(years ago) and his house caught fire. He went back into the house while it was burning. A firefighter asked him why he went back inside.  Willie told him that he didn't want his stash to burn up.  Willie ia a big time poker player. He comes to Fort Worth quite a bit.  He drove home late one night and stooped to sleep in his car for a while.  The police found him and found some grass in his ashtray and arrested.  He was also arrested in Louisana last year with some grass on his tourbus.

     Do you remember (sure ya do) when all the hippies got into Merle?  He put out "Oakie From Muskogee" to really isolated his self from them...forever.  I've always admired him for that--turnin down record sales jus to not be associated with the folks he moraly stood against.

When Merle recorded the Okie from Muskogee album, he was at the Muskogee Civic Center, a friend and I went that night, it sold out a long time before everyone got a ticket that wanted one,  we stood outside with about 2 or 3 thousand others, They set up speakers on the front side of the building so everybody outside could hear everything, 
we all got a kick out of it,  seeing as how most all of us there had been born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA

Leo, I was a Sophomore in College when Okie from Muskogee came out. About that sme time the State of Oklahoma came out with an "Okie" lapel pin. I wish that I could find mine. I am verry proud of my Oklahoma heritage from the Cherokee Indians and my education from Panhandle State in Goodwell, Oklahoma.

Yazoo City has a Jerry Clower Blvd.  I never got to see Jerry in person but the "Coon Hunt" is a classic. I even had some of his albums on 8 Track.  The "Coon Hunt" was my Dad's favorite.

I had a freind that mananged the local farmers Co-op, he went to a meeting they had and started telling us about this guy they had there for entertainment,  he had bought a couple of tapes from him and let us listen, wasn't too long before we started hearing it on the radio's,

John Prine was great.
     This is one a my favorites from CCR, though it never got much airplay.  If I hear it at just the right moment ma allergies start actin up.
