Sandbox for coal cooking
« on: February 05, 2007, 11:43:24 AM »
Thinking about building a small box maybe 30 inches square and five inches deep to fill with sand so that I can have a spot on the deck under the eaves to put coals and a Dutch oven for cooking on rainy days. Anyone else do this?

I saw a picture of a gal's DO cooking setup using concrete blocks, 8"x8"x16"  & 18"X18" or 24"X24" (cant remember), concrete stepping stones. She put the cinder blocks down on the ground and put 3 stepping stone on top of blocks. She had 3 or 4 blocks down on the ground then over laped the steping stones on blocks. Then lined around the outside some Slimmer cinder blocks. I think they were 4"x8"x16" for wind break. Nice flat surface for cooking on. All bought at Lowes or Home Depot. I hope Im making sence???    Wishbone-Ks
