Welcome James
That can be the hard part with alot of the good names taken. You can give us some details about yourself or where ya from to give us something to work with.
Also you can go to Piney Woods web site and check out all the alias there to help ya get an idea. I believe his site is:www.pineywoodsplace.com. If that aint it you can go to Sass wire and look for him under Links.
Good luck

I would suggest that you decide what period you are interested in and what your profession is.  many of us are too old and fat to be cowboys so we pick other professions.  myself a decided on a Pinkerton detective in the 1890s.  This gave me a lot of room when selecting guns.  Once you have done this you can come up with a name that would fit. Say you are the town undertaker, you might have the name I.M. Balm.    Or perhaps you are the town drunk.  Benn Down.  The name I came up with is I. Will Ketchum.

Now in real life most of our names don't go with our jobs but in CAS it seems too be the trend.

Send me a PM if you want to discuss this.

Well some of the names my father in law and I came up with are the Stone Mountain kid, the Duluth desperado, the stone mountain stranger, and the rambling rassler (after my real chosen profession).

James,

Those names are all good choices. Along that same line you could use Stoney Mountain, the Duluth Kid, Rebel Rassler...

Some people like the fanciful concoctions like Will Ketchum described, some like using the name of a character in an Old West of B Western movie, and some like an obscure (or not so obscure) name of a real-life person from the Old West.

Some people only pick a name as a name and don't dress to it, others have as much fun dressing to their name as they do actually shooting.

I got lucky and the name I wanted and got was not taken.

The best/fastest way to find out if a name is taken is to call the SASS office. They are very hekpful, and you will know immediately.

By the way... WELCOME to the world of CAS!
