Any old-time saddle experts?
« on: May 30, 2006, 12:18:06 AM »
Howdy to the group,

Man, I'm as excited as a castrated bull in fly season to find this group. Hmmm... I suddenly feel real queasy! ha!

I am hoping I will be able to find among this illustrious group someone who is a research guru on old-time saddles, both military and stock. I am a novelist, making part of my living putting out books on the old West, and I insist on getting my research all as close to the real thing as I can. So I will be very interested in meeting up with and talking with anyone on here who shares similar interests. If you post back and don't hear back from me, though, please contact me offlist. SOmetimes I get pretty busy and don't get a chance to check these kinds of forums very often.

Kirby,
Seem to be a lot of cowboy authors around here. Still got the picture of you, me, Thadd Turner and Rod Timanus from Idaho Falls on the mantle. Figure you already have this site, but if not, try this link:

Post your questions or PM...
I suppose I could be called guru on old-time saddles, both military and stock.

I 've built more 1859 Mac's than 1847 Grimsleys,  A few Trans-Grimsley's  , many Hopes, a few 33 Dragoon ... and more than few Visilla's
Not to mention the 76 , 85 , 1904 and 1928 Mac's.

when planets align...do the deal !
