1876 Model Winchester serial number 21896 was shipped from the factory on order #30868 January 14, 1882. There were approximately 40 model 1876 rifles shipped the same day to the same order number. ALL of them were exactly the same; sporting rifles, .45-60 WCF caliber, with 26" octagon barrels and full magazines. Shipping destination, nobody knows. I've been to Ringo's grave on Turkey Creek. It is a pile of stones in a grove of cottonwood trees. Creek channel has changed, but it looks like the creek used to run right below the bank on which the grave is located. Very hard to find, because of a fence and a lot of bushes along this fence line. By driving slow, we finally saw the marker through the trees. The grave was marked with a fairly large whitewashed rock with his name on it. The grave is on private property near a ranch house. This ranch was at the time, owned by the Sanders family. It's a very quiet, peaceful spot for a man with such a bad reputation. Be respectful!!! Don't go looking for it without asking permission.
