Yee-Haw! New C Sharps 1875 Carbine is a Shooter!

I received my new C Sharps 1875 Hunters Carbine today, chambered in 45-70. A very simple rifle, but beautifully executed. It has the 26" light, round tapered barrel, Ideal tang sight, aperture front sight and single set trigger.
I took it to the range as soon as I did the paperwork and went through the recommended C Sharps/Badger Barrel break-in procedure with jacketed bullets. I then proceeded to shoot some real ammunition. The first 4 rounds went into one hole at 50 yards. The load was the cavalry carbine load - 55 grains Swiss FFg, 400 grain Dick Dastardly Big Lube bullet and Federal GM215M primers. That was all of that particular load I had on hand, but will definitely be making much more!
I couldn't be happier with this rifle. The folks at C Sharps certainly did a "bang up" job!

That is a gorgeous rifle and a nice looking target. If you don't mind sharing, what is the recommended break in for the barrel?

The procedure is based on 20 rounds of jacketed ammunition as the first bullets put down the bore. The first 10 rounds are fired singly, and cleaned with both nitro solvent and copper cleaner between each round. Let the barrel cool at least 5 minutes between shots so it doesn't overheat. After the first 10 rounds, fire two at a time for the second 10 rounds (5 strings of 2 rounds). Do the same cleaning procedure between each 2 round string. They state this will "burnish" or "season" the barrel which will improve accuracy and will prevent the barrel "walking" the shots as it heats in the future. You can download the procedure from the Badger Barrels website, and C Sharps includes a copy with their new rifles.
All I can say is I like the results so far!

Yep, and I'm heading back to the range Friday (hopefully - if my pesky job doesn't interfere
) to sight it in for 100 yards. I've got some more ammo assembled and have to get ready for my first Cody Dixon match with it a week from Saturday. I'll be slow as molasses with it to start with, but plan to have lots of fun.

"Simple Elegance" comes to mind when looking at your rifle......It is a beauty! I do love the color case hardening on the receiver. She is quite a shooter too!
