Is it just me? 2nd extractor broke again

I have a 1875 Uberti 45 Colt and the case extractor (Is that what you call the rod on the side of the barrel that pushes out the case after firing?? ) keeps shearing off at the top!

I'm about to install the 3rd one in 2 years!  Guess I'll order 3 while I'm at it.

It's the ejector rod...

You may want to see if a machinist friend could make you one that's got beefier threads and re-thread the button.

Or - you may just want to buy three...

Are your shells difficult to extract?

If so - polish the inside of the cylinder chambers a bit and remove any roughness and deep machining marks.

It could just be that one gun. I had a gun like that. Things broke on it that never broke on others. It was just that way. Maybe you have one like that.

Nah P Dog - it's not just you.  I too have had to replace the ejector rods on my brace of '75s.  Got about 2 years out of the originals.  Should be good for at least one more year out the one's on it now.

Looks like I'll be ordering a few.

 I'm going to have a machinist friend of my brothers try to thread the rod and tap the button, but I'm not too optomistic about it.

I sure like the honesty on the 1875 ...I had been thinking I needed one ........now I think I`ll stick to me 58`s and the boredom of never haveing to work on them ....
I do like the size and feel of the 75 ...maybe when USFA makes one .
