I saw a link on another website whereas www.ancestry.com is free for a short time. All you need to so is register. People, it's chock full of amazing info!! I was able to trace thru census records on my paternal side back to my great - great - great grandfather who was born in 1827 in VA and when he immigrated to Iowa in 1855!!  :o  I even looked up a 1917 draft registration for my maternal great grandfather filled out by him!! Trace your roots!!  ;)

Thanks for posting this.

These sites 'are' amazing, and you'll find them easy to use.

Another good site is www.genforum.com.

Here's a couple free sites I use.
http://www.usgenweb.com/
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/
Also, you may want to check with your local library system to see if they have access to HeritageQuest Online. It has Federal census records thru 1920. You may want to check the state's Historical Society's website for vital record info.
