Just registered, and put up an intro on the main site.  That said, I joined specifially for this particular section, as I'm very interested in getting some USFAs when budget provides.  Looking forward to getting some great info from here, you guys seem like a great group.

Howdy Revolver Ocelot,

What kinda USFAs are you looking at getting?  As far As I am concerned, USFA makes the best SAA available, and USFA's great American Quality is expanding into other great firearm areas.  You won't go wrong, that is for sure.

Ditto what Doc said.  Welcome to the forum where USFA lovers hang out.  Just be aware that if you want to order a USFA firearm ( especially one of the Premium models)  the wait is generally about 12 weeks.  There are preferred dealers that are suppose to be carrying the full line now and you can check the USFA website to find out if a dealer is near you.  USFAs are the best SAAs made today (going to hear from some Colt people on this one...not to mentions some rabid RATS)  ;D.  At any rate I hope you dont wait too long to buy your first USFA.   Safe shooting.  Deadeye.

Welcome to the USFA forum. Like everything else in CAS, once you get started buying, you just can't seem to stop. Check the on-line auction sites like gunbroker and guns america to get a good feel for average prices, and every so often you can find a fantastic deal.

I have bought from Phil Rezac in Nebraska with good results, and I know there are several other CAS dealers that get great reviews from the CAS community.

Feel free to ask questions about models, dealers, etc. as we all want to help, and it also allows many of us to talk even more about one of our favorite firearm manufacturers.

Welcome to CAS City and USFA CSS, Revolver Ocelot!
We do have a good bunch of pards here, and just about every question you have about USFAs can be answered by at least one of us. Don't worry about the USFA vs. Colt range war here in this forum, I'll nip stuff like that when it starts getting out of hand. And I think I maybe the only "rabid RATS" here and that is because I am really fond of my New Vaqueros, that I bought to save wear and tear on my premimum USFAs.

Make yourself ta home, and let me know when you get or order your first USFA. so I can add ya to the roster. Enjoy!!  :)

Thanks guys, I was going to start with a rodeo with a 5.5" and .45 colt.  Not many options on that line, but it's what I've wanted for some time actually.  Part of the reason I want one now is th price, the other reason is it's a no-nonsense pistol that will look great with use.  I do have a question I can think of now.  There's a good SD load, it's 9 grains of unique over a 255 grain LSWC, it's a standard pressure load, I was wondering if there was going to be significant wear on the pistol as I currently use my Taurus with is a similar load for carry (not sure what powder I've got, they were handloaded, but it's a 250gr LRNFP at 950 fps).  Cowboy loads are considerably weaker, but what I understand is that the original loads were something to be reckoned with.  It's nothing over 14k CUP, so I thought the wear would be just like standard vel ammo in any pistol.  Just making sure.

As far as my first USFA goes, it should be around tax return time  8)

There's a good SD load, it's 9 grains of unique over a 255 grain LSWC

That seems a might high for use in a USFA, Colt or Colt Clone. Nine grains of Unique sounds more like a load for Blackhawks.
My loads that I use in my USFAs are 7.5 of Unique with a 250 RNFP, and my pards tell me, they think those loads are on on the warm side.
Be careful.

Interesting, the loads I have right now use HS6 I think?  Guy at the gun shop loads ammo, and loaded it for me after looking through reloading manuals.  The particular loads have the same ballistics as the one I listed above, but were not in the ruger/tc only section.  CUP was around 13k or so, I guess the SAA is safe to 14k.  Maybe Unique is a higher pressure powder, idk.

Maybe some of our pards that have more knowledge of reloading can chime in here, but if I remember right 8.0 grains of Unique was the high end for a 250 grain for use in a Colt sized frame.
