Spurs

So this might be a dumb question but I keep hear references to people buying silver Spurs for their "fancy going to meeting" clothes. We're these Spurs actually cast out of silver? Or silver plated?

usually silver mounted wherein thin silver plates are inlayed in the steel or soldered to it. The silver then is decorated via stamping or engraving.
