Prettiest CAS Rifle - Marlin 1894 Century Limited .44-40
« on: January 23, 2012, 10:19:31 PM »
It was one of my first CAS rifles (1996) and still a favorite.  Marlin 1894 Century Limited .44-40.  Real bone color case hardened, fully engraved receiver by Doug Turnbull, Beautiful walnut stock with some fiddle-back type figuring, and deadly accurate.  Best of all, it is MINE!

Yup...  very pretty!  I like my Yellow Boy though.  It's the sporting rifle version with the 24+ inch barrel.  Caliber 44-40.   8)

I think that's just AWESOME!  (Not a word I use very often.)

And I don't even like Marlins.   :D

When I was younger and made more money, I wanted to have the 45-70 1895 Century and the 22 1897 Century.  Ain't going to happen in this life, but I am dang happy to have the 1894!

TL

Beautiful rifle! Real pride of ownership there. I'm glad that you actually shoot it. Such a rifle as a wall hanger would be a travesty.

I just ran across a NIB Browning Centennial B92. Great wood, nice engraving. I'm trying to convince myself that I 'need' it. Going to be an uphill fight as my wife and I already own Plain Jane B92s.

I'd go for the Browning.  You will kick yourself later if you don't.  I kicked my self when I traded the Century off, and happy to have traded to get it back.  Post pics if you get it.
