Hat Shadows
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:16:00 PM »
I've posted a tutorial on the NCOWS web site on how to get rid of those pesky shadows caused by hat brims.
http://www.ncows.org/tutorials/hat_shadow.htm
The article also shows how to do a quick sepia tone of an image.

Dutch, I kinda like the red mask over both of their faces!

Poor Jed (Dave) can't defend himself 'til his confuser & internet issues are fixed so I won't rag on my buddies TOO much!

 ;)

As usual, thanks for the fine lesson and "How To" instructions.  I don't have ANY photo/picture-type program but I may have to  look into that GIMP program.  Is it compatible with Photoshop or however those compatibility issues work?

Thnak ye kindly Dutch, think I'll do some photo retouch. Back in the 1800's you always see all the photo's of gents wearing wide brimmed 'sky pieces' with em' tipped back, maybe that was due to orders/requests of the guy runnin the camera so face shodows wouldn't happen?------ I'm a low forehead wearer of all by headpieces, whether its a widebrimmed hat or baseball cap style-same with most people I know. Alot of the pics come out with faces in shadow unless you get em to pose with the sun in right position. Hate wearing a hat/cap with it tipped back-defeats the purpose of shadin' ur' eyes, doesn't feel right either-like havin' ur' t-shirt on backwards. Will give it a try, probably be PM'in ya though if I have questions. CC

GIMP will do most of the things Photoshop does. It will certainly do this kind of thing. Some of the tools and things are located in different places though.

SHB & CC,

Feel free to contact me.
