S&W Frontier 44 Double Action
« on: October 07, 2010, 08:01:01 PM »
Got a good deal on this little gem:

Still functions very well in DA.

Grips are wooden aftermarket replacements.

I just love the feel of the shorter barreled Frontier DA's.

Nice!!  Would be fun to try my 44-40 BP loads  ;D With them little grips & a full load, She'll buck  ;)
Pesonally, I favor the longer barreled ones....I have a 6 inch in .44 Russian.

Anothe life regret would be NOT taking up the offer of a fellow NCOWS members offer some years back to purchase his matched pair in 44-40, 6", blued, in excellent condition for a very modest sum....I just didn't know how much fun they were back then.

That is a neat pistol.  Where did you find it?

SASS Wire.

Fella had it for sale for $450 with the S&W letter.  Hard to find deals like that anymore.

I had one just like (except it was 44 Russian) that Vaughn Trueman of The Bullet Hole tuned up and re-nickled.  It was a gem but I traded back to the guy I bought it from on my New Model number 3s.  ;D

Nice find, Pancho. Congrats.

I've a blued one with a 5" tube and I agree with Slim it sure "bucks" with a full house BP .44-40 load. Frankly, I much prefer shooting my other one...it's in .44 Russian.

Nonetheless, very cool and the letter's always great to have as well. Good job.
