Here is my new Sharps. It is chambered in .429 on a 45 2.6 case. Uses the same conceptual geometry
as a 40-65, ie: a gradual taper down to a "straight" neck portion. Similar in concept to a 42-100 Wesson
cartridge, but 45 2.6 cases are easier to come by, and it is easy to form them.
I am going to use this rifle to hunt a buffalo for the meat and hide. A good fat cow buffalo will make some
good eating. I am researching for a hunt for where I have to work for it. I cannot bring myself to shoot
an animal in a pasture who thinks you are bringing dinner out to them.
I just get plain wood on the Sharps, on my Stevens, I get better wood and finish the stocks myself. The
last pic shows some Stevens with the stocks as recieved and finished. The last receiver has the barrel
removed. Stevens have removeable barrels.
