Dumbest question I have ask yet??
« on: April 23, 2009, 07:15:10 PM »
Hi Fella's,
I know i ask a lot of dumb questions, whith the Gun Salesman of the year woking so had the ammo, and componets have got to point tha a person like me, canno afford to shoot!!
My favorite pistols are my Cimmaron 72 open tops with the short barrels, but for CAS they are the best point and shoot there is. I have been looking at the Plinkerton's and they are getting good reviews and they are cheap, but I love open tops!!
Does anyone know if anyone is making a open top in 22, or a way to shoot 22's in a open top?? I have other 22's but they just not what I like to shoot!
Thanks ACE

Or velocity?

I saw the Plinkerton at Cabelas in Buda, TX. It had a safety on it and looked pretty cheap. I'm sure they work fine though. I have a pair of Ruger 22 revolvers that are great, but much more expensive.
Smoke em if ya got em.

There are a number of fellows who have acquired inexpensive brass 1851's or even 1849's and converted them to .22 LR. It is a simple conversion, using liners readily available from Numrich  - and the 1849 as a .22 LR "Kit Gun" sounds far too tempting ...

Hmmmmm...... I have a fluted '62 pocket police model that would be ideal size for a .22 conversion! I wonder????

The 45 to 22 chamber adapter looks like it would be time consuming to use:

Review and pictures: http://www.gunblast.com/Cimarron-Plinkerton.htm

All the reviews are good on the Plinkerton. If it just didn't have that horrendous key lock gizmo on the left side it might interest me, but that really detracts from the looks of the gun. Looks "cheap".

As far as the 45 adapters, wouldn't you just be shooting from a sub-2" barrel everytime you pulled the trigger, and hoping nothing bounced around inside the real barrel on the way down/out?

I had a plinkerton in my hand last week and cheap doesnt begin to describe the impression I got. I highly recomend a person opts for the much higher quality heritage arms 22's. And I'm the biggest Cimarron fan in the world! :)
