Cimarron service and Products
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:17:15 PM »
I recently purchased two Uberti Rifles from Cimarron. One was great, but the other was a complete piece of crap >:(I made the mistake of cutting the stock down and replaced the sights before I shot it. The lifter didn't operate properly, latch would not retract, tab was bent and cartridges would not chamber fully. I took rifle apart to clean and smooth out action. This was done but the gun would still not operate correctly. I contacted Cimarron and was told that I should return it so they could look at it. This I did. After I returned it, awaited for a reply, it never came. I had to call their gunsmith and was told that there was over $ 250.00 in charges. I contacted Cimarron and they said that since it was no longer covered by the warranity( I had taken it apart) I had to pay the charges. I never authorized this. The rifle was unrepaired and returned to me. Purchase from anyone other than Cimarron, their service sucks. Why can't the be like Dillon or Ruger?

I feel for you.  However,  most gun distributors have strong disclaimers about guns they ship.  You cut down the stock, took the gun apart and replaced the sights.  Then you tried to shoot it and found out it wasnt working right so you sent it back.  Clearly you voided the warrenty.   I do agree they should have called you first to tell you how much it was going to cost to fix it and then give you the option of having the gun returned to you or paying the required amount on a gun that was not covered under warrenty any longer.  I would chalk it up to experience and move on.  Regards.  Deadeye.

Cimarron has recently started contracting with a new shop in Texas to do certain work for them including warranty and other repairs.  Calls concerning repairs are being directed to them.  The purpose of this is to streamline the repair process - although they are still subject to parts availability which can always be an issue.  They are learning the procedures and I would say they made a mistake.  I agree you should have been called to be informed that your work inside (primarily) the rifle as well as outside would require that any repairs be on your dime.   I don't think the normal policy would be to fix it before letting the customer know he would be charged.  I'm sorry your experience was not pleasant.

Sonoma Bear, you said, "The rifle was unrepaired and returned to me."  I just talked to Robert at Cimarron and he said that the primary problem with your gun was that it wouldn't hold ten rounds, and that problem was repaired without charge.   If this was someone else's gun, I apololgize.

The rifle always held 10 rounds. The problems were as I stated and I was told that the parts installed by Cimarron would be removed and the rifle would be returnd to me unrepaired! This was done, they were good to their word.  Since this is a forum for reviews, I gave my review. Don't expect Ruger or Dillion service. No more needs to be said.
