Thanks
I actually am quite used to the Great Westerns, I have 5 more at home, 2 are with the Turnbull CCH, One is an all blue (no CCH) that I put Colt Eagle grips on. But up to now my favorites were a pair with the finest custom nickel plating you could imagine. I put REAL ivory grips on them, and boy do they stand out..
But these are going to become some of my regular shooters..(and Old Top can joke at me when we are at the loading tables, and say Curley, are you gonna drag out them "scratched up pistolas")

anyways thanks and I really excited to get them home..

and better pictures will follow...

I went to E.M.F. dings and dents Sale, today , and got to see some of the new things there comeing out with this year , and I got to handle a gun like yours , absolutly, beautiful, that photo engraving was really nice , and haveing the gun all blue black, also makes the gun look rich , I wish they would start making more of the all polished blue black guns , I really like the way they look. :o ::) 8)And that Great Western l l's action is pretty hard to beat (IMHO ) ;)
Enjoy that new gun Pard  ;D

At one of the last ding/dent sales, Debbie brought a gun from under the counter, she was holding it for someone she thought would appreciate it...It was a GW2 357 5 1/2", was the all blue/black no engraving...I bought it on the spot, all the way home I thought it needed something, so I had Bob Shaw put a pair of Colt Eagle grips on it...I think it is BEAUTIFUL..but Debbie was a little upset with me for changing the grips..it sure is a looker.

I get the first engraved one either friday or saturday, I will post some better pictures after.

Thanks.

Curly, I agree, this gun is beautiful, and I am really happy E.M.F. is bringing back the all blued gun , I saw your new engraved GREAT WESTERN l l, last Sat. at the dings and dent sale , NICE GUN , I think they they have a winner here, I don't think Debbie is too mad at you, she's too much of of a sweetheart to be mad at a GREAT WESTERN l l fan , and if she was , I bet she wasn't mad very long  :D ;D ;) Bob did a nice job on fitting the grips, or did they need fitting , are they second generation grips ? ??? Looking at your picture , looks like your a lefty like me, looks like there are more lefty's out there than I thought , you know the Colt SAA, was actually made for the left hander my mistake, Sam Colt didn't relize this until it was pointed out to him later on, the lefty is in perfect possition, to load and unload, because the loading gate is on the right side, all a lefty has to do is flip it open with his thumb, half cock it , and he is ready to load or unload ,without changing his hand at all , Elmer Kieth, wanted them to make a SAA with the loading gate on the left side for the right hander , and some did , but it never did well, or take off .

                                                        Enjoy your new guns Pard   :D :o ::) 8)

Yup, yer pretty much right on all counts..Debbie is probably the best thing to happen to EMF in a long time...(and I have been a fan of emf since about 1979)
The grips are 2nd gen Colts, and Bob went all out to make it fit great, even made up some epoxy to fill a small gap. He is the best. He also said he could make that gun a Colt with almost no effort, a couple of roll stamps and no one could tell the difference.

Was a lefty all my life but didn't know it. Gramma and the Nuns tried but ultimately failed. I started shooting lefty about 10 years ago...and boy did my scores improve..<g>

Have you put up any pix of your stuff? I would like to see it..
Also if you come out to The Cowboys or Silver Queen look us up.

Ten Wolves,

Yeh Curly likes his GWII I think that he is up to about nine now, he also takes good pictures of them with a little encourgement he might show off them Sunday guns the nickle plated with the dead elephant on them, he only handles them with a rag to wipe them off, can't shoot them they are too bright.  He also has a pair of scrached up Taylors that he shoots.  Come on out and shoot with us and he might let you hold one of them.   ;D ;D ;D

Believe the second gun (to accompany my new Cimarron) will have to be a GWII.  Would be perfect if it was available in old model frame, but I've been longing for it for quite some time, so that really doesn't matter that much.

And I suspect our friend Mr. Curley Cole is too modest, but if you want to enjoy some excellent photography, particularly of a nice gun collection, check it out: http://sdough.smugmug.com/gallery/258730_upFEX#P-1-15.  First rate.

There are not enough good pictures of these out there.  I just got one, but there was a real lack of good photos to examine while I was shopping for a GW II.  And they just dont have any shelf space in the shops like the Uberti's do in my area.

I put Colt grips on it and a Colt base pin immediately.  I couldn't be more pleased with the quality.

This is my first post by the way.  I have enjoyed reading the discussions here over the last year.
