How do Ace
Ace pard you're all over the place, it's hard to keep up with you, just kid-en, to get the grips of , their are two screws on top of the back strap , just at the bottom of the hammer , you need to remove these , then their is one screw on the bottom of that back strap ,on the butt of the grip, remove it , now just pull the back strap and grip , backwards from the gun, be carefull not to lose the hand spring , on the frame , if your gun has one , it's just above the left back strap screw you just removed, and thats it, unless you want to take the triger guard off too , which is easy , just take the remaining three screws off the bottom , and your good to go , you can clean and polish , degrese, and reoil while you have the gun apart. there is no need to take the gun apart any further , unless your going to replace some parts, and make sure you USE THE RIGHT SCREW DRIVER, more dudes MESS UP their guns by not using the right driver. heres a picture of my old Dakota 45 colt.
Abilene, I realy don't want to do the antiqueing to these, but I quess I will get use to the Matte Black,
I have been working on a Old pair of Hawes Western Marshall's, they had no blue left on them, after several hours of sanding and polishing they look like nickle, and I am going to leave them that away. But I am great full for the advice.
Floyd, You are right, brass rear frames, and I plan on polishing them up someday. Since there is no screw that runs threw the grips, how do you get them off? If I pm you my email add. could you send me a close up pic of your grips?
Also I am great full for all the help.
