old cartridge boxes

What did the old caartridge boxes look like?  Were they folded like modern ones that you pull the tab and then pull out the interior container that held the brass, or nested top and bottom so that when the top portion of the box came off, there were two pieces?  Am thinking of making a more authentic one

They were 'nested' - often featuring rounded corners - and when they were apart - they were of roughly equal size and depth.

If you're really interested, old issues of 'The Gun Report' magazine often featured decent photos in their cartridge collecting section.

Currently - 'Cheyenne' makes some good-looking replicas, and there are several folks who can help you with appropriate labels - scanned from originals.

Good Luck.

Cheyenne sold out, I don't know to whom but you can still get their boxes from Midway and probably other dealers.

Cheyenne was bought by www.buffaloarms.com. Mo, the following website has tons of color photos of original boxes. Take your pick.  ;)
