Im ready to buy USFA premiums

  Howdy Pards,

  Im lookin at getting some new sixguns and after careful consideration and information gathering...I'm ready to buy two USFA premiums. " The Single Action Revolver" is lookin like the model Im leaning towards. I always wanted to get two real colts but Im not pleased with the quality issues Ive been hearing about with them. Im lookin for two shooters and not really worried about collector value. ( I think in the future the USFA revolvers will have their own collector value anyway)

  I dont think I really need to spend 110 dollars for a case colored hammer...and another 100 dollars for consecutive serial numbers...and the standard black grips will do me just fine...and the case colored frame looks sooooo nice.  OOOOOO Im gettin goose bumps!   

  Ive been shootin two ss RNV's in .45 colt and they are great!  They are smooth and accurate...Im just lookin for something more historically correct and an excuse to get two new toys.

  Are the USAF revolvers good enough out of the box for CAS shooting? Or will they need action work?  Can the Marshal get me a good price on them?  Ive been to my local toy stores and they are getting me some prices...I havent heard their prices yet.

In answer to your question, "Are the USAF revolvers good enough out of the box for CAS shooting?" - short answer is yes.  Internal finishing on the USFA guns is excellent.  You might, however, wish to change out the main spring and the trigger/bolt spring.  I recommend these from Brownells:

Wolff reduced power mainspring (hammer) part # 969-322-800  $15.00

Heinie wire trigger/bolt spring - part # 394-630-000  $6.75

I use these springs in all of my USFA guns and they give them the feel of a professional action job - all for less than $22.00.
I wouldn't bother with those consecutive numbers either.  Other than the warm, fuzzy feeling they might give you, they really aren't worth that much.

Buck,   Great choice in the USFA SAA.  You wont be dissapointed.  One thing you might consider is changing out the grips also.  I found the USFA logo on the grip to be hard on the hand especially firing a 45 cal.   I opted for the Tru Ivory slightly aged grips on my 5.5 inch and my 3 inch sheriffs model.  Other than that you wont be dissapointed.   In addition to the marshall I would suggest approaching a local FFL in your area to see what kind of price you can get as the guns need to be sent to an FFL anyways.    Safe shooting.  Deadeye.

I have 2 consecutive # Premum revolvers I really like them a lot but had to send them back to get them to shoot POA. So save yourself a possable trip back and have them sighted in to POA (mostly L to R), while they have them, there's an extra charge for this, but its worth it. WBR

  My favorite toy store hasnt gotten a price for me yet...I called another local store and he quoted me a price of $1050.  I called another store not to far from here and he never heard of USFA...and said to call back on tuesday.  Umm  ok

  So my hunt continues...I thought I saw a price of $980 from the marshal's site.  How much would shipping be?  I know I can get my local store to accept them for me for prolly a $25 fee.

  I like the idea of the tru ivory grips, slightly aged...would look like the Duke's guns wouldnt they    and Im kickin around the idea of consecutive serial numbers cause it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.  Im not sure yet.  I can buy a lot of other cowboy items with the extra $200.

Buck,    This is what your USFA SAA would look like with slightly aged grips.

I like the slightly aged ones over the regular Tru Ivory ones as they are way too white and look like plastic to me.  But the slightly aged ones will actually age more over time with frequent use and USFAs are meant to be used!!!
