Got this in my email this morning and wanted to share it with ALL our pards,
You folks have had a rough go and we in the US are behind you, hoping that you can someday take your country back.


FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

There is a problem with all this   ---   HOW POLITICAL ARE WE ALLOWED TO GET ?

Our Prime Minister can honestly say 'We got rid of 50,000 hand guns in Australia" - the only problem is that no-one is telling the public that they knew where EVERY one of them was. It was the registered handguns that were handed back in during the "Gun Buyback" (and as Wallaby has said elsewhere - they never owned them in the 1st place), does anybody think that criminals are going to hand in handguns etc that are NOT on anyones books. That sort of thinking shows either a complete disregard to the citizens or complete naivety and someone so out of touch.

We do not have a Constitution as you do in the US. Our system of Govt is modeled on that of the UK (we are a member of the Commonwealth after all) and as such, do not have anything resembling what you guys are able to use. There is no 2nd Amendment for us and our sporting shooting bodies are no where near as big as the NRA. Remember, Australia has only 20 million as apposed to the 384 million in the US.

Tensleep, we are trying, but there are some among us who are saying "they are making it all too hard, I will just give in". Then there are those among us who say "to hell with them, they want them, they are going to have to work bloody hard to get them - and that includes the Govt."

Sorry about the rant, but this sort of thing with some of the politicians who have a 'thing' about firearms (not mentioning dictatorial political party leaders who play hypocrites by congratulating Aus shot gunners at Olympic games and wear ballistic vests at public meetings) gets stuck in my craw.

I had better stop now before I get upset.

For 2008, bring it on. The more the merrier as we would love to see more International visitors frequent our shooting events as it would not only be an honour to have you here, but would also send a message  .

Well said Judge, sure wish there was more we could do to help y'all out.  I will be back when ever the pocketbook lets me or me mates @ Orchard Hills asks me to come help them.  The guns I have that are not registered will never be registered or turned in.

Yes Tensleep I have a belt buckle also.

When Guns are Outlawed in the States than I will be an Outlaw, because I will keep my guns!!

Levi, all we can do is keep at those in charge and, hopefully, get them to see reason. I know this is a VERY tall order (they are politicians after all), but with the stats that are being published having such a slanted view applied to them, it is a big ask.

We can but try.
