Another Eastern Regional Shoot
« on: October 16, 2006, 05:33:38 AM »
This past weekend was marked by the Eastern Regional Shoot, hosted by The Great Lakes Freight and Mining Co., at their range in Modoc, In.

As you can expect from them, it was a great time.  A lot of work has been done on their range, and it shows.  The eight stages were well written, Dutch came up with some fun and challenging ones.

The banquet and awards were held at a restaurant in Hagerstown, In. and boasted excellent food and accomodations.

Hats off to the GLFMC for another well done regional.  I can hardly wait until next year.

Thanks for the kind words and also thank you FJ for the prizes you donated. The fellow that won the pistol, Mike, was a new to our posse and a new to NCOWS member. I hope he doesn't expect such treatment from now on. ;D Hope all had a great time and look forward to next year, despite the work involved. We had 2 new shooters in our "young gunz" exp. category and I know they both had a wonderful time, a great way to start in NCOWS. Thanks again.

I need to correct my earlier post somewhat. Although French Jack donated several very nice prizes, the pistol was donated by our own OttawaCreekBill. Thank you both, you made several of the shooters very happy this weekend with your generosity.

While I really wanted to win that pistol, I was very happy that Whiskey Mike, our club's and NCOWS' newest member won it!

Thanks for the kind words French Jack! It is always a pleasure to shoot with you and Jim and Celeste.

I do have a tale to tell about you though, and a couple of pictures as proof. The last stage was based on the James-Younger Northfield MN Raid. The stage was to be shot with just a rifle. The course of fire called for 10 rifle shots at the closest rifle targets on the stage. The shooter was then to reload 5 rounds in his/her rifle and fire at the fleeing robbers which were two rifle targets farther in the distance. (I'll also add that these two targets are the farthest shots that can be taken at any of the stages.) Well, FJ wanted more of a challenge, so he asked if he could use his cap and ball revolver to shoot the last 5 shots. His Posse Marshal had no objection, so that is just what he did, and hit as I recall 3 out of the 5 shots.

Here is French Jack taking aim at the red targets which are just to the left of his hat brim in the picture:

Here he has just taken a shot:

I can hardly wait until next year myself.

Rowdy---Don't know about 2007 yet. We're having a posse meeting/dinner today so I'll make an inquiry about it and let you know what I find out. Hope to see you and the Crab Orchard boys there in '07.
