What Has Happened to the Shootist?
« on: November 05, 2006, 10:32:28 PM »
Saw on an earlier post that Shootist has been delayed but would be out soon. That was in September, so where is it? I haven't seen a copy since the Convention in Feb.  Inquiring minds want to know.

Yep - it's a great movie ... but I think he was wondering 'bout our award winning (but late) magazine. ;)

Better get the SHOOTIST distributed before I submit an article.  You wouldn't want that would you?

Gripmaker,

IIRC River City John has received his envelop with two issues of the Shootits and a new Tally Book.  Going media mail means that it get moved & delivered when the USPS get around to it, but it doesn't cost NCOWS much to send it.  ALL that political junk mail is taking priorty right now and should cease by tomorrow at the latest.  Then we will stand a chance of getting them.

Oh Dr. Bob!. . Dr. Bob?  Go back and read my post.
Sorry if I misled anyone by my post. I thought no one could possibly have any trouble figuring out I was being tongue-in-cheek.

Especially when I mentioned two of the articles were how to make your own copy using only hand tools of the experimental Browning design that turned your lever rifle into a full automatic machine gun; and receipes for caramel-covered 'horse apples' for Halloween.
And I would hope everyone knows the Shootist does not feature a foldout pin-up each issue, a la Playboy.

I guess I have to start using those emoticons more when I'm trying to be humorus. :o

I have yet to receive my copies of the Shootist also.

R.C.J. said "I have yet to receive my copies of The Shootist..."
Ah, yes, dear Pards, but I'll wager a month's worth of Arbuckle's that he has a well-worn DVD or VHS of John Wayne in 'The Shootist'!
Best regards and good viewing!
'Ol Gabe
BTW, R.C.J., I'll take the 'winnings' in a cup or twa at the Convention next Feb., it'll be so nice to get 'warmed up' after a long haul down in the Teamster Wagon across the Territory from Dunbar Station.

Oddly enough, the only John Wayne movie I own is The Cowboys.

My Duke collection is not extensive but not bad.

The Searchers (Maybe his best western)
North to Alaska (a decent romantic comedy)
McClintock (a great western romantic comedy)
The Angel and the Badman (I wanted a bib front shirt after seeing this one)
Stage Coach (His breakout film)
Big Jake (The best argument for extending the NCOWS time period)
The Cowboys (Mr. Nightlingers speech is great)

& 18 mostly forgetable 55 min. black & whites from the 1930s.

Alas no Shootist.

Books

Yep,  I surely did mean the NCOWS award winning publication. However, I also have a copy of the JW version of "The Shootist"  VHS unopened and unseen (not viewed) and am looking for a DVD version to watch.

So, what is with the magazine? Has there been a lack of appropriate articles not submitted, a tremendous increase in the cost of paper or did the delivery man's horse step in a gopher hole or were they eaten by a Grizzly (no offense GB)?  Somebody has to know!

Nada ... as of Thursday's delivery.

No Senatorial ballot, either.

I'm still smiling tho.  At least until my pain meds run out  :o ... which will be late Friday (today) or early Saturday.  They've been on refill order for nearly two weeks, now.
