The threats and retaliation are RESUMING!;

"Hello, Everyone
We have received information that the RCMP have been instructed to drop by our ranges at random and check the documentation of anyone that they find shooting there.
When you are shooting on the ranges, you must have all documentation with you:  your PAL or POL, your ATT if shooting a restricted firearm, and the Registration Certificates  for any firearms that you have with you.  Also ensure that you are transporting your firearms and ammunition correctly.

THIS IS NOT A THREAT THAT JUST AFFECTS "THE OTHER GUY"...    MR. OR MS "OTHER GUY" DIDN'T PLAN ON HAVING IT HAPPEN TO HI/ER, EITHER, AND NOW S/HE IS IN A WORLD OF HURT!!!  DO YOU REALLY WANT THE AGGRAVATION?

Please spread the word to every firearms owner you know - or don't know
   Thanks,"

VERY interesting! It would be beneficial to know how you came by this information and from whom did the RCMP receive this instruction?

The question needs to be asked : Just how is this in the interest of peace, order and good government at a time when the relationship between police and the public is at an all time low?

It sure as hell isn't any we've done as lawful gun owners. I'm not away of any gun owners tasering a cop, then suffocating him rather than offering first aid; kicking any cops in the head for no good reason; shooting any in the back of the head while in custody over an open beer in public; killing a motorcyclist cop while under the influence and then walking away to drink some more in order to foil a breathalizer test; arresting and strip searching a cop who doesn't even own a gun because his four year old daughter drew a picture of him "protecting her from the bad guys and monsters", etc., etc.

As a Canadian citizen, you have a better chance of being injured or dying in police custody than at the hands of any gun-toting criminal. I'd be interested in any factual data to prove otherwise.

Once years ago, at a Sunday morning .22 handgun silhouette match I was attending, a lone RCMP showed up and started to ask people for their paper work; registration, PAL (FAC at the time), ATT; the classic "Papiere, Bitte ..." routine. He was actually matching paper to serial numbers and doing this at random during the match. The match director asked him what the hell he was doing and when he found out, called a halt to the match so that people were not handling guns while others were resetting targets.
This same hero was known for sitting outside the local gun shop and pulling the same stunt on customers coming and going from the shop; harassing non-criminals instead of doing some good in the world.

When I realized that he was likely to discover a few people who were not in possession of all their paperwork, I said - "Hey folks,  unless this guy has reason to believe that someone here is in illegal possession, he is trespassing on private property and we don't have to comply." Everyone went back to what they were doing.

The RCMP type demanded to speak to me off range, asking my name and just what the hell I thought I was doing. My response:

"Let me guess - it's a slow Sunday morning, you don't have radar in your car to harass the Sunday-go-to-church crowd, so you're up here playing 'Super Cop', right? Because if you expect me to believe that your Watch Commander ordered you to do this, he's a bigger jerk than you are and I'd like to speak to him. Why don't I meet you at the Detachment and discuss this with him?"

He left the range property at high speed, going straight to the Detachment. I found out Monday morning from a civilian RCMP employee that he was  hoping to be able to charge me with 'obstruction of a police officer in the performance of his duty', etc.'. and was very disappointed to learn that he had no grounds. I was warned to cover my ass as he was now 'gunning' for me and I had better not have so much as a burned out tail light.

This same jerk wasn't finished playing 'Super Cop'. He returned another day and pulled the "Papiere, bitte ... " routine on someone who told him to take a hike. Push came to shove and it went to an Executive meeting involving the NCO/IC and a protocol was worked out -

Henceforth, if the RCMP wished to  conduct such a search, they were to inform the club of the date and time. Otherwise it would be deemed inappropriate and legal action would result.

So, what has changed in the meantime? What is the justification for this new harassment routine? While it would be a good idea to have one's ducks in a row, we need to know what we can do about this latest assault on the already most regulated and controlled segment of society.

All right, sum it up for us ....

Can the RCMP show up on private club property and say - "Papiere, bitte ...." ?

Perhaps I'm living in a fantasy world, but wouldn't that require a warrant? But I forgot - we're gun owners and that means we don't have the rights of other citizens, particularly criminals.

The terms of the licence that the RCMP issued to our clubs would supercede our rights!

So, after 167 years of being ".. the true north, strong and free ...", we have degenerated into a police state. It is high time that this was admitted, the 'elephant in the room' finally recognized for what it is.

When you consider that the RCMP have been empowered (or assumed power) to act as a national police force, national security agency and in the case of some provinces (like BC) a provincial police force, it was inevitable that it would come to this.

You don't even need to own a gun for the Polizei to arrest you, detain and strip search you if your four year old daughter draws a PICTURE of a gun while at school. This one is right out of George Orwell's '1984'. I suppose that had she drawn something resembling a penis, it would have been assumed that she was being sexually abused.

The question we need to ask is just where is it leading ultimately and what is the next step in the process of civil disarmament?
We already know that the Liberals promised to ban handguns out right, but the CPC are our 'friends', right?

Don Cherry was right: "The Conservatives are liberals, the Liberals are socialists and the socialists (NDP) are communists."

Sad commentary on our political spectrum.

I spoke to a rookie RCMP type at the range today re: alleged 'spot checks' on ranges being conducted by the RCMP as mentioned on this forum. He said he had heard nothing about it, but then he's at the bottom of the totem pole.

But - he did say that he was baffled as to why LEOs were asked not to arrive at our indoor range with loaded guns for week night recreational pistol shooting when they wore their guns loaded on and off duty.
I told him that it made club members uncomfortable when they leave the line 'hot', something they cannot do. His position was that it was "all training". I said it wasn't unless they rented the range for their exclusive use. Our range - our rules.

I wish I had the presence of mind to add that while he can go around armed on or off duty, we on the other hand, are told that we cannot use a firearm in the confines of our homes to defend ourselves or our families.

We recently established new rules that apply to LEO's using our range at times when they haven't rented it for official training.

It means that they do not enter or leave the indoor range "hot". On the outdoor range, they will be required to go to the "Safety Zone" to 'unload and show clear' as per IPSC rules.

We explained this to an instructor from the BCJI who was up from the coast to qualify members of the Sheriff's department and he had no issues with it.

What they do on their training days is up to them.

As for the High River gun grab, if anyone has any illusions about our national police force and the Prime Directive (i.e. reduce the number of guns in civilian hands by any means whatsoever) then they are delusional. The RCMP has made it quite clear what the agenda really is and public safety has nothing to do with it.

I assume that there are undercover cops or Cal DOJ at the ranges periodically. Also on all forums like this. In particular on classifieds angling for someone stupid enough to mail a firearm to someone directly breaking the law. j

PJ Hardtack

That's a given.

But, so long as we are not counselling anyone to break the law, we needn't fear the agents of "Big Brother". NOTHING said on the social media or internet is beyond scrutiny, as many politicians and media types have found out to their dismay.

It still astounds me however, that some will flame someone behind a keyboard, saying things they wouldn't dare say to their face for fear of a swift punch to the nose. That is sheer abject cowardice.

Recently someone flamed me in an email and months later, I met him face to face. I was quite pleasant and asked if there was anything he'd care to repeat to my face. He declined.  I told him to his face that he was a cowardly tub of sh!t with no balls and he slunk away.

More recently, my wife said she saw him walk into a retail store behind us, see me and wait for an opportunity to scuttle off. My assessment of him was correct and I feel nothing for him but contempt and pity.
