Once again I may have one lurking in the same box that adjustable rear sight was in.  The problem is I will not be back home to look for 10-15 days.

I wish I was gone from home because I had headed to Florida to the CCC shoot, but alas I am stuck at a military camp in Central Texas for an exercise.

this is the one I bought

FS-TC-TWBfront sight, extra tall .080" thick silver blade, brass base . . . $4.29

there is another one ( as it turned out the above was tall enough for my short Rifle )

FS-TC-TTBfront sight, extra tall .050" thick silver blade, brass base . . . $4.29

this the all brass cast one

FS-PA-38-BRounded Blade Front Sight, .075" thick blade, 1/16" thick base, wax cast brass . . . $9.50
Not sure about a 3/8 base though...

BTW...I used a dremal and cut off wheel to cut a shim from the nose of a brass 38 Spc. case
about 1/4 X 1/4 "  slightly keystoned, the curve makes the perfect spring style shim....
Without it ,my sight was moveable with just some thumb pressure and might adj itself in the hard case...

Waiting on the mailman to bring my sights . I order 3 two for my 1873's and one for my Remington Rolling Block .

Today I got a chance to shoot my rifle . The brass blade is GREAT . Easy to see , and really stands out when your aiming .When I installed the sight I drifted the blade to center of the barrel and when I shot at 50 yards it was good ,that was luck . Now I had filed on the front sight but when I fired the rounds were low so I filed again and again . Now it's where I want it .

I installed the other RM front sight on the half round barrel last night . Sorry I haven't posted pic yet .

Today I got to shoot the rifle with a new brass front sight . I bent the first sight so I replaced it yesterday . So when I went to shoot , it shot to the left 3 inch to be exact . Never could get this one right ?It either shot to the left or right  . I worked with it for a long time . When it would shoot close to center the sight was hanging off the right side of the barrel . When I got home I installed the original factory sight . Hope to sight it in tomorrow . The Rocky Mountain Front sight I put on the Short Rifle works fine ???

Rowdy, it doesn't matter how it shoots, it's how it looks that counts. I spend more time holding mine during westerns than I do shooting  ;D

Wife thinks I'm crazy, but I'm not , it's just a disease.

The short rifle looks GREAT and shoots pretty good. But my half round is a real shooter and the Rocky Mountain Front sight Looked good ,but that was all . I got the factory sight on and were back on target . I shot the Triple 7 rounds today and for a sub it shot good . It had the velocities I prefer for hunting ,I like to stay in the 1250 fps range .

Today I installed a Smith Enterprise ladder sight on my Short Rifle . Between the Rocky Mountain front sight and the ladder rear sight
she's a real looker and seems to be fast on target . I want to play around with the ladder and different distances , Would like to play around with it out to 300 yards .

Today I shot my rifle at 50 yards to see how the sights were . They need to drift the round to the right , came home and adjusted .Will shoot in a few days to make sure we have the windage centered ,the elevation was good . Will get a few pictures to post in a few days .

Man, I thought I was the only one that did that.  ::)

We all love our 1873 Winchesters .I can't wait to put a leather butt stock cover on mine . I like the one that holds 8 rounds of ammo . That will be perfect for Hunting this Fall .
