This just in;

Well it is finally happening.  Monday the Canadian Senate will read for the third and final time the Long Gun bill C-19.  Then it's off to the Governor General for Royal Ascent and then it'll be published in the Canada Gazette.
If you open the link below - you can scroll down to "ORDERS OF THE DAY" or just click on the "orders of the day" that will take you directly to the business of the day.  The third reading of C-19 is the second item to be dealt with Monday in the orders of the day.

Next up - scrapping the handgun registry. It's been around since 1934 and has done nothing to prevent crime, as witnessed by the almost daily shootings in Vancouver. NO gun law has ever prevented a crime.

I just received a copy of "Gun Control" - Gateway To Tyranny by Aaron Zelman; the Nazi Weapons Law of 1938 compared side-by-side with the US Gun Control act of 1968. This book reveals just where the US got their 'gun control' ideas from, and us as well. Even the language and terminology - i.e. "firearms acquisition permit". Many other terms and conditions were copied verbatim.

The 1938 Nazi laws exempted muzzle-loading weapons, whereas we went them one better and only exempted flintlocks. They also exempted rifles manufactured before and including 1870. We chose 1898.
They were the sole arbiters of what guns could be owned by whom and under what conditions. Sound like the RCMP? The same for reloading components and the making of ammunition; very tightly controlled, only for the "politically reliable''.

It is downright scary just how closely US and Canadian anti-gun 'gun control' measures emulate these laws. Think not? Invest $24.95 in a copy from Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO.org), ph: 262 673-9745. A very nice gentile lady will answer the phone.

Next up:

1. End to classification - it's totally useless.
2. Abolition of magazine capacity - criminals don't block their magazines to 10 for handguns and 5 for rifles.
3. De-criminalization of mere possession and lawful use.
4. Enshrining right to own property in Charter - Harper promised it in the election platform.

Licensing process need to be streamlined, outright violations of privacy, such as intrusive questions, requirement to answer them both on paper and then again over the phone, power of CFC to "investigate" applicant and references (i.e. to ask any question and refuse to issue license on any basis) must be removed.

We have lots of work to do, pressure cannot be lowered on the CPC government - it has to only increase.

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep ...."

The debate is NOT over! We have just begin to fight for our INHERENT God-given rights, which NO government has the power to take from us.

Indeed. From: "Stopping By A Woods On A Snowy Evening".

Required memorization in my school days. Stuck with me long after many others faded from memory. Describes great beauty in a small place; to overlook it a travesty.
Not having a horse, the closest I get to the scene is x-country skiing on our lake as evening falls. I'm compelled to stop and drink in the beauty of it.
On impulse, I once skied the final 25 miles of a dog sled course, the sole x-country skier to do so. I figured that where a pampered sled dog team could go, so could I. The mountainous terrain and the woods were a severe challenge, and I narrowly avoided frost bite and hypothermia.
Because I hadn't alerted race officials about my intentions, the only people who knew I was on the course were my wife and the two mushers I passed enroute. Dangerous, foolhardy; but that was part of the fun of it.

Tired, wet, scared and near exhaustion, I had the knowledge that to stop was to die .... " ... and miles to go before I sleep ..." was my reality.

But - back to our current reality .... what do you call a country where the national police force usurps the authority of Parliament to MAKE laws pertaining to firearms as opposed to enforcing them - why, CANADA, of course!

I did that once, can't remember how long that really was - close to 25 miles. Was carrying several thermoses with hot tea for the xcountry ski racing team. They ran on a 80 mile track, and I had to take shortcuts thru the boonies and frozen rivers.

You call that a dictatorship.

Re-classification... How many? SPAS-12, Franci, Norinco T-97, Rossi single shot 12ga for crying out loud! They were brazen at the time SPAS-12 was reclassified as prohib and simply confiscated them. Type 97 was returned to the dealers, who bore the cost. From my perspective both are violations of human rights, but RCMP believes it's upholding the law.

How about this: there are Firearms Licensing Regulations, that spell in no uncertain terms, that reference must sign on a form that he/she knows the applicant for 3 years or more and knows of no reasons why the license should not be issued. Nothing further is required of a reference. Is that how RCMP reads the regulations? No, they believe that they can interrogate the reference to establish how well they know the applicant. This is lawlessness, not upholding the law.

OTM

It has taken me a while to get to this point, but I believe that our law enforcement agencies have gone 'rogue', trampling over the rights of lawful gun owners in the name of public safety.
This, coupled with the PC inculcation of the minds of the public (including children) that guns are inherently evil, makes a prime environment for totalitarian excesses and abuses.

Once was a time I enjoyed seeing cops on our range, now I resent it. I see one behind me while driving and I presume he's running my plate to see if I'm a gun owner.

Several times weekly, brazen 'gang related' shootings occur with unregistered guns and I'm still waiting for the first conviction.

Today is the 2nd day of the 3d reading in Senate.
And if I am not mistaken, there's been a motion in the 1st day to limit debate to no more than 6 hours.
Hours left till the day when we can buy rifles and shotguns w/o government approval.

PJ Hardtack

The latest concern is the rumour that our Gestapo may declare certain rifles and calibres prohibited for civilian use - i.e. "sniper rifles".
I wonder how that is going to be determined. You can pretty well count on Barrett .50s and the .338 Lapua getting the chop if they make that move.

There isn't a military rifle that hasn't been used for sniping at one time or another. The military adopted civilian sporting rifles (Win. M70, Rem. 700) to meet the need. How does a "target rifle" differ from a "sniper rifle", other than application? What about a Sharps long range rifle with micrometer sights or one with a Malcolm telescope?

I still recall the feds saying that no legitimate "sporting rifle" would ever be affected by C 68. A "sporting rifle" is any rifle used for "sporting" purposes - period. How many have we lost since? Declaring some firearms acceptable for "sporting purposes" is right out of the 1938 Nazi Gun Law.

Time to scrap the RCMP, never mind the long gun registry. Too bad BC just signed a deal for 20 more years of RCMP policing.

Looks like the vote on 3d reading C-19 in Senate is tonight at 5:30 EST.

I hear you, and I don't think it's going to be a concern, because to restrict and confiscate they will have no data to go door to door confiscating.
So if RCMP goes ahead with re-classifying any long gun as restricted, there will be time for a major outrage that will stop them in the tracks.
That of course does not hinder the ability of RCMP to class new guns as restricted, and that's the next step, like I said above - abolition of classification.

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

"Regulations" are issued by Order-in-Council which is a political body, answerable to Parliament.  We are not likely to see any new categories of restriction as long as a consevative government rules.  If the left-leaning parties gain power all bets are off.  That is why I hope the destruction of records is properly carried out to sabotage any attempt to re create a registry.

You can expect the police, at least at the top levels, to direct strict enforcement of the powers they already have.

The press and the liberal establishment have been attempting to recognize an anti-gun stance as part of Canadian Culture! They forget how Canada developed by settling half a continent, and won its status as an independant country through participation in world wars.

I don't believe that the RCMP is using Orders In Council to determine firearms eligibility. It is being done arbitrarily and surreptitiously. In the past, it was always announced as an Order In Council with Parliamentary approval.

One of the items being offered by the JPFO are cookie cutters in the shape of a semi-auto pistol or revolver. Comes with a comic booklet on the fallacy of 'gun control'.This strikes me as an excellent cookie for gun club meetings and an excellent statement for school lunches.
In the event of a brouhaha such as we saw over the non-existent picture of a stick-man-with-a-gun, this would be so much fun! If apprehended, all the moppet would have to do is a) eat the evidence or b) crumble it into oblivion! Hundreds of kids so 'armed' would  make quite a statement.

Beats the hell out of nibbling a pizza slice into a 'pistol'.

C-19 passed the 3d reading in Senate last night (of course it would).
I was told it is receiving royal assent today and then we'll know the date of coming into force.

PJ Hardtack

Hasten the day! It remains to be seen if Quebec can manage to save or retrieve the data bank.

When it receives Royal Assent from the GG, I may buy a rifle to celebrate and hold a registration burning certificate. Next we get firearms 'decriminalized' in general .....

Well - surprise, surprise .... Quebec succeeded in getting a ruling to prevent the destruction of the registry data bank. Don't be surprised if they get backing from Ontario on this. Now we have to wait several weeks for the dust to settle on that. I wonder of they just want the data on Quebec residents or the rest of the country? I've bought guns from both businesses and private sales in Quebec.

Instead of all that money on F-35s that haven't even seen production, I vote to spend it on paying Quebec to leave the country.
All in favour ..... ?

As far as I am concerned, QC can pike off and don't let the door to hit them on the way out. Just leave the equalization payments behind, Monsieurs!
:P

Tonight's the night!

I wonder how QC is envisioning the transfers in and out of province, once the rest-o-Canada data is flushed down the toilette. Have anyone there thought about that? Or are they planning to establish Douane Quebec? Boo hoo!

PJ Hardtack

Apparently La Belle Provence only wants the data on Quebec residents. Seems they don't trust their citizens. Don't be surprised if Ontario follows suit.
Strange how the two provinces with the greatest number of immigrants feel the need for a firearms registry ..... Oh, did I just say something politically incorrect .... ?

The NDP has announced that when they form the government (snort, guffaw ... about the same time that pigs learn to fly) they will re-institute the firearms registry.

Brilliant! This ranks right up there with the Liberal promise of 'Mr. Dithers' Martin to ban handguns if they won a majority. How any back room political strategist thinks this will win votes beats the hell out of me, but I just love to hear it.

Western separation is looking better to me all the time. The west has the fuel and food to make the east starve and freeze in the cold. The US and foreign trading partners will snap up our resources. All we need is for western premiers to grow a pair - a real challenge for BC's Christy Clark .... ;>)
